So many great articles and resources posted lately- it’s hard to find the time to appreciate them all! Below is a list of my favorites from the week (or past few weeks because I’m catching up).
The categories are based on what I needed this past week. What articles were you drawn to in the past few weeks? Share the wealth by commenting with links below!
I need a night out with my best friend…
Ever feel like your best friend is more like your sister (or brother)? This NY Times article explains why. My best friend would TOTALLY help me move a body…
I could taste the refreshing sensation just by reading these summer drink recipes. Sweet Tea Sangria- yes please! I’m so glad that porch sipping season is almost here!
Sometimes, there’s no better way to fill up your own bucket than by spending time with a dear friend. But friendships take work! Great practical and thoughtful strategies in this NY Times article on how to nurture friendships as an adult. I’ve got less than 10 truly dear friends and hope that they know every day how much I love them. I can do better…
I need an adventure…
I am OBSESSED with weekending. There is nothing better than throwing the basics into a duffle bag (I’m currently coveting this one), throwing that duffle into the car, and hitting the road for a quick adventure. Check out this great list to keep you on track for all of your weekending adventures. #16 is a must but one I always forget!
Where my girls at? Because I’m ready for a girls’ getaway. STAT! I’m happy to report that I’ve been on 6 of these recommended trips– one was even my first getaway as a mom! Another one is practically in my backyard…
I love a having bucket list to work towards- keeps me dreaming and planning. While I wish that my summer 2018 bucket list looked like this, I suspect that it will look more like this with my new kiddo. Don’t get me wrong, seeing her eyes when we accomplished #4 was magical. #22 is going to blow her mind…
I need family time…
My family loves to read! With advances in technology, reading and storytelling can take different forms. This small preliminary study takes another look at just how important reading for kids’ development. Good things to remember as my kiddo continues to love stories and as I continue to look for ways to keep my kiddo entertained.
I, myself, have only done 15 of the summertime activities on this list. My kiddo has already completed 1. We’ve got some adventuring to do!
My first reading of this article set me into a bit of mom anxiety- am I doing enough for my kid? Then I stopped myself and gave myself grace- I am doing my best. And now we have more reasons to cuddle!
I need some advice…
This is my first summer as a mom and I am in a tizzy with all of the new decisions that I need to make. I’m feeling good about my choice of sunscreen and bug spray, but I’m still not sure about a few other things. We are at the beach A LOT and I could use your thoughts on the following products (if you feel so inclined):
Option 1: pros (extra floor space, 3 lbs), cons (floor and wall are not connected- can sand get in easily?)
Option 2: pros (lots of space, UPF 120+), cons (cost, lots of pieces to put together)
Option 3: pros (seems airy), cons (cost, short floor)
Baby Beach Chairs
Option 1: pros (functionality, ease of use), cons (cost)
Option 2: pros (keeps kiddo out of the sand for some playing time- mom’s opinion), cons (keeps kiddo out of the sand for playing time- kid’s opinion)
Option 1: pros (cute, cute, cute), cons (no sun shade)
Option 2: pros (sun shade, can tether toys), cons (can the baby reach the water to splash?)
Thanks for your thoughts. I’m a newbie- can use all the help I can get!
